Audio John Paul Jones, Ben Harper, ?uest Love SUPERJAM/2007.06.16/Other Tent @Bonnaroo/FLAC

Waited four hours to be in the front row for this show. Paid off as it was an awesome show. Once in a lifetime thing.

This post is for jrock718 (and the rockpile).

Superjam 2007
John Paul Jones, Ben Harper and ?uestlove

June 16th 2007
1 AM Central
The Other Tent, Bonnaroo
Manchester, Tennessee

Recorded with an Edirol R-09 by Roland from the front row.
Recorded in 24 Bit 48 khz WAV format.
Edited in Peak LE 4 (massive amounts of editing...gain changes to cut out loud offbeat claps, bring songs up to reasonable volume, fade outs on a few tracks, cut out silent times, and anything I could do to make it sound better)
Transferred to flac with xACT

Since this recording is from the front row, the highs especially Ben's voice are very faint since I was holding the recorder more or less next to the PA. Sorry.

01. Intro <2:56> (1/2 Crowd, 1/2 warm up/soundcheck)
02. When the Levee Breaks <9:27>
03. Who's Who (not a song)
04. Good Times Bad Times <26:10>
05. Dazed and Confused <29:35>
06. Thoughts <1:00> (not a song)
07. Superstition <20:12> (with Roots guitarist)...Yes I am ashamed I don't know his name.

And of course, this is the SuperJam. Song names are more for reference than to describe the track.

is anyone else having trouble playing this through winamp? i got a flac plugin installed for it and i play flac files just fine through it, so i'm a little curious as to why i'm not hearing any audio.

i was there for this set and it blew the roof off, so i'm just dying to hear it again!

Thanks for uploading this! And to further answer the question about the guitarist for the Roots...

Quote:
The Roots' original lineup included Black Thought ( MC vocals) and Ahmir " ?uestlove" Thompson ( drums), who were classmates at the Philadelphia High School for Creative Performing Arts. As they began to play at school and on the streets, they added another MC named Malik B., a bassist named Leonard Hubbard, and a keyboardist Scott Storch. Another MC, Dice Raw, frequently made album appearances with the group from 1995 to 1999 before leaving to record a solo album. Scott Storch also left to pursue a solo career following the Do You Want More?!!!??! album. The Roots filled his void with another keyboardist, Kamal who is still a member. A beatboxer named Rahzel also joined the group and contributed from 1995- 1999. Alongside Rahzel was vocal turntablist, Scratch who greatly contributed to The Roots' sound, most notably in live concerts. He left the group in 2003. Malik B. left the group in 2000 due to drug problems. A guitarist, Ben Kenney, enjoyed a short stint with the group and contributed to their Phrenology album, but left to join Incubus. A percussionist, Knuckles, was added in 2002 and guitarist, Kirk Douglas (a.k.a. "Captain Kirk") repleaced Kenney. A vocalist, Martin Luther toured with The Roots in 2003 and 2004 and contributed to their Tipping Point album. The current members of The Roots are Black Thought ( MC vocals), ?uestlove ( drums), Hub (bass), Kamal (keyboard), Knuckles (percussion), and Captain Kirk (guitar).

Thanks for posting. By the time I got to the tent, there were so many people around that I could barely hear what was happening on stage.

I was bummed that I missed most of it, but now I can hear what I missed.

Thanks!!!

Yeah man, I get nothing through Winamp. I don't know what that means? It's killing me, because this was the best set of the weekend for me, which is saying alot because that Flaming Lips show was amazing, as was Harper's regular set and the White Stripe's set. Please, info on what's going wrong with these files? I've already seeded out 550MB worth of 0 sound files, and the .md5 comes back with an error, telling me that the hashes aren't long enough to be real hashes.

*EDIT* The problem seems to be something with the FLAC pluggin, because the files test out alright and once you decode them, you can listen to the wav's (Thanks for taping! It's great to relive this). Also, apparently, the md5's don't verify because Trader's Little Helper doesn't like the format you used. Ex:
d0088cb975bfe01fc811a87817a01186 - 05 Dazed and Confused.flac
That '-' prevents TLH from recognizing it, and if you replace it with an '*', it checks. Thanks a ton man!

Thank you so much!! Like others, I stopped by late and couldn't even see the tent, so I'm happy to be able to hear it now. At least I got to see JPJ with Gov't Mule (the highlight of Bonnaroo for me, capped an amazing weekend)

Default Sorry

Sorry about the trouble guys. I don't know much about all this stuff. I never listen to flacs, so I didn't even test em out. I just listen to the WAVs. I was just reading the tutorial on purelivegigs which said how to convert to FLAC.

I think i understand what you mean. Alot of it might be that I am on OS X. On my hard drive I can name files with question marks and periods in the filename. I know my freinds computers dont like that. Hope everyone gets a way to get em working. I know its a big file and big commitment to download.
